Ngaoundéré – Garoua Road Reconstruction (242 km): Contracts Signed for Lots 1, 2, 4 and 5.

The reconstruction of the Ngaoundéré – Garoua road reached an important milestone with the signing, on 19 November 2025, of contracts for four of the five lots. The construction companies now have their contracts. Delayed by a petition, the process for lot 3, Keroua Bridge – Salah Bridge (77 km), is underway at the AfDB .

With the contracts now awarded, the contractual framework is well set for the reconstruction works to start. Indeed, lot 1, Ngaoundéré – Cliff base (50 km), was awarded to CGCOC GROUP to the tune of 46.05 billion; lot 2, Cliff base – Keroua Bridge (39 km), awarded to CHEC for an amount of 34.80 billion; lot 4, Salah Bridge – Ouro André Entrance (56 km), awarded to CFHEC for an amount of 23.91 billion; and Lot 5, Ouro André –Bénoué Bridge (56 km), awarded to CWE for 31.09 billion.

At the same time, the companies did not wait for the contracts to be signed before initiating the first actions on the field, in accordance with the guidelines given following the mission conducted in mid-October 2025. For lot 1, the key sites have already been identified: the quarry at KP 24, the living quarters at KP 8+900, the weighing station at KP 8+720, the rest area at KP 4+400 and the chosen toll station site at KP 29. For this purpose, the Vina Senior Divisional Officer is finalising the administrative procedures for securing the related rights-of-way. Similarly, for lot 2, the contractor has identified the site for the living quarters at KP 17, while the one for lot 4 has been chosen at KP 12.

It should be noted that the contractor selection process was conducted in accordance with international procedures, following the Open International Call for Tenders launched on 13 December 2024. With the signing of contracts, the gradual handover of sites, the installation of the living quarters and the first field reconnaissance, the project is now entering its implementation phase.
The reconstruction of the Ngaoundéré–Garoua road is one of the Government’s priorities, the benefits of which will be felt in the long term by the population and the economy.
